The Golden Eagle for El Paso

We were thrilled to receive the news that our design was selected for the public art grant for the El Paso Police Department Eastside Regional Command Center lobby. Natalie and Cynthia were inspired by the imagery of the Golden Eagle as a protective and healing energy for all who pass through the space - officers, administrators, and families. The stars represent members of the police force who lost their lives in the line of duty and will have plaques with names, serving as a memorial space for honor, recognition, and grief.

The building is under construction and is due for completion in late 2023, and the early stages of the production process from sketch to clay are shown below. In the fall of 2022, we hosted a visit from the team in El Paso to approve the work so far, and it was a delight to welcome them to our studio and Vermont. We will be finishing the glazing and final touches in mid-2023 and can’t wait to see the Golden Eagle unfurl her wings.
